Why we default to EU data residency
Data residency is often an afterthought bolted on for compliance. We think it should be the default — here is what that cost us.
Frankfurt-first
All storage and processing happen in the Frankfurt region. Cross-region replication is opt-in and explicit, never implicit.
Performance did not suffer
Co-locating ingest, storage and compute in one region keeps p99 latency low and removes a class of cross-border failure modes.
Operational clarity
Residency is a single flag, visible in the console and enforced in the API. No ambiguity for security reviews.
